Water scarcity and unclean water is itself a big issue and with meager rains, Rajasthan face even bigger of it. The drought prone state find it a great issue to get clean drinking water. With the month of March arriving, scorching heat has hit the lands of Rajasthan. It’s already 40°C during these initiate months of the year.

We did feel some pre-monsoon spells but many parts of the South India and northern plains remained deprived of it. After getting over this quick rainy spell, dry weather is making its way, especially in Rajasthan and Gujarat. Even in the month of March, these states have temperatures of 30°Cs.

Interestingly, these weather conditions are due to anti-cyclone movement over Gujarat and Rajasthan. Due to the dry and hot nature of winds, there is tension of heat in the environment.

Within 24 hours, several reasons of Rajasthan witnessed unexpected weather conditions. For example, Bikaner recorded 37.2°C, Jaisalmer with 37.7°C, Barmer with 38.7°C and Churu with 37.8°C. In the coming month, these states may even witness heat-full waves.

In these grave weather conditions, the water scarcity issue will become even prominent. To cope up with the conditions, the state govt. made visionary plans. Rain water harvesting is the most promising way of water conservation. Mukhyamantri Jal Swawlamban Abhiyan epitomizes the perfection of rain water harvesting. With deep digs and a large well, the scheme is dedicated to raise the ground water levels.

On this occasion of World Water Day, we strive to make aware the people of Rajasthan about this annual event. The day not only focuses on sanitation, clean water and hygiene, but it also highlights the management of clean and fresh water resources.
