Chhath Puja

India is a country where every festival is celebrated with immense joy. Applying the funda of ‘Unity in Diversity’, people feel pleasure in embracing others. As today is the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje extends her warm wishes to the people. She posted a tweet congratulating Chhath Puja to the people.

In her tweet, Smt. Raje extends her warm wishes Chhat Puja, an on occasion of worship of Sun god. On this auspicious day, she prays for good health, prosperity and well being of all the people.


Chhath Puja and significance of its four days
Chhath Puja is festivities of four days which held after Diwali in the month of Kartik. This time, Chhath Puja is on 13th November but the celebration began on 11th November and will continue till 14th of November. This festival is dedicated to God Sun and his wife Usha. Worshipping Sun on these four days is a way to express gratitude to divinity for showering light and good life on the Earth.

Know the significance of four days of Chhath Puja

Nahay Khay: On this day, devotees take holy dip and the holy water to their homes and use it in cooking.

Lohanda: It is the second day of Chhath where devotees observe a fast for the whole day which ends in the evening. After this, they observe fast for 36 hours without water.

Sandhya Arghya: On the third day, devotees prepare Prasad and take a dip in the holy water body in the evening and worship the Sun god and Chhathi maiyya.

Usha Arghya: On the last day, devotees go to the holy water and offer morning offerings or ‘Usha arghya’ to the Sun and then break their fast.
