The election commission has decided to set up more polling booths in the state citing an increase in the number of electors. EC has planned to set-up 169 additional polling stations in the state. These stations will be called auxiliary polling stations. Therefore, Rajasthan district, which has 51,796 polling stations, will now have 51,965.

Other than this, the election commission also released the list of documents that can be used as ID proof for voting. According to information, voters can use photo identity documents for establishing their identity. They can use Passport, driving license, service identity cards with photograph issued by bank and post offices, pan card, smart card issued under the scheme of the ministry of labor, pension document with photograph, authenticated photo voter slip issued by the elections machinery and official identity cards to MPs/MLAs/MLCs. That means the voting process will be the same.

The commission also directed that authenticated photo voter slips shall be distributed to all electors before the date of poll. The voters can also contact election commission office if they do not receive the slip.

An official further said, that if any elector uses another elector’s photo identity card, which has been issued by the electoral registration officer of another assembly constituency, such cards shall also be taken into account provided the name of that elector finds the place on the electoral roll pertaining to the polling station. The EC clarified that just possession of EPIC will not entitle a person to exercise his or her vote unless his or her name is found on the electoral roll supplied to the polling station.

The election commission is taking extra care of voters and the lists as many blame of fake voters are coming forth. EC is also organizing various awareness programs to motivate people to cast their votes.
