Seeing that Makar Sankranti is around the corner and QCI (Quality Council of India) surveyors appointed by the Centre under the Swachh Bharat Mission will be visiting Jaipur in January end, the JMC is braced up to boost the ‘Swachh’ image of Jaipur. The QCI surveyors will inspect the hygiene and sanitation standards maintained by the civic body as well as the public. Probably that’s why we see the Jaipur Municipal Corporation members in action now.
Why is JMC Trying to Boost Jaipur for National Sanitary Drive ‘Swachh Bharat’?
The ‘Pink City’ that ranked at 29 among top 73 clean cities listed in 2016’s Swachh Sarvekshan’ will compete with 500 cities around the country. This time the state officers will make efforts to compete for the top rank.
The Swachh Sarvekshan 2017 will start on January 4. Under it, the JMC will attempt to redress sanitation related problems in the city via a mobile application. The civic body will try to score points by satisfying the requests of MoUD (Ministry of Urban Development) and the customers.
The app will lay out some important questions worth 2,000 marks. There are fixed marks in each category–
- 900 for record maintenance and documentation
- 500 for report based on ground surveys
- 300 for the functional status of mobile app and
- 300 marks depend on citizen feedback and swift disposal of complaints.
QCI officers will receive customer feedback through telephonic queries. They’re set to visit the city from January 27 to 29.
As of now, 9,000 residents have already downloaded the app on their phones. The app will collect customer feedback based on the following questions–
- Are the residents aware of their city’s participation in Swachh Sarvekshan survey?
- Is their neighbourhood cleaner than before?
- Are there dustbins present at regular points in the market area?
- Do they see any improvement in door-to-door garbage collection facility in their area?
- Is the public toilet present in their area functional?
As per the reports, Jaipur has acquired the 21st position in terms of downloading this mobile app.
Though the JMC officers are ready to work out of their comfort zone to please the customers yet problem resolution through the app is a major concern for the authorities. Seeing that a majority of sanitation workers don’t possess smartphones, the success ratio of solving problems via app is just 68%
Nevertheless, the JMC officers will put in every effort to address this problem before the arrival of survey inspectors. After all, they’ve to win the first prize under Swachh Bharat Mission.
