With the monsoon arriving, rains have finally shown up in the state of Rajasthan. Most parts of the state have been witnessing good rains. Mainly the places like Udaipur, Jhunjhunu, Churu, Sikar, and Bikaner have been splashed with rains.

Keeping this in mind, the district administration has imposed a “ban” on digging of the road by different agencies both government and private. This initiative taken by the government aims at preventing accidents caused by the digging up of the roads during monsoons.
The district collector Siddharth Mahajan has appointed in-charges for giving permissions for urgent work needing digging of roads.

It is seen that city road with potholes often turn into death traps. The road should be immediately repaired if digging of the road is done for some work.  If the roads remain without repair, they pose a threat for major accidents during monsoon. Such roads become problematic for pedestrians and also for motorist during the monsoon season.

The district administration has taken many precautionary measures this time to prevent the accidents caused during the monsoons. The measures include:

  • The district administration has appointed additional district magistrate (north), additional magistrate (south) and additional district magistrate (east) for the city and for rural areas. Besides this sub-divisional magistrates have also been assigned job of giving permission.
  • All the police station of all the areas will be informed about the permission given for digging of roads. This will help in ensuring that the road has been repaired to prevent any kind of obstruction to movement of vehicles.
  • The district administration has also issued orders to its officials. The officials need to remain alert during monsoon. In the past, it has already been seen that collapse of the building, low-lying areas swamped with water and also other accidents which are risky for life of the people all occurred during the monsoons.
  • Flood control rooms will also be set up in the city.

These orders of the district administration will remain effective till 30th September.
