At the station, you will find all the staffers including ticket checkers, RPF, operations staff and reservation and booking supervisors. These are total 40 women.
Gandhinagar Railway Station in Jaipur, Rajasthan sees 7000 passengers every day. Almost 25 trains stop here and 50 trains pass by every day. This will be a challenging job for the women but they are ready for the challenge.
Soumya Mathur, Divisional Railway Manager, Jaipur
“The entire activity on the railway station will be managed by women, that includes operations, which basically means operating the panel where you align the tracks according to the route of the trains. Then there are commercial operations like selling of tickets and ticket collection.”
Calling this a proud moment, P Singh, general manager, NWR congratulated women at the inaugural function. This is the first of its kind in Rajasthan. At the national level, Matunga railway station in Mumbai is the first one but it is in sub-urban category.
