For the demand of reservation, gurjars are protesting from last decade. They are demanding 5% reservation in government jobs and education institutions in Rajasthan. In fact, talks were held between Rajasthan government and gurjar leaders after the gurjars warned for agitation in Rajasthan over reservation. Know the details about the matter.

In Mahapanchayat held on 15th May in Adda village of Bharatpur district by Gujjar Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti, gurjar leaders announced to begin an agitation from Pilukapura in Bharatpur district from 23rd May. The decision for agitation is taken after a 15-member delegation meet with a group of ministers on 14th May in Jaipur over reservation demand and announced in Mahapanchayat.

Gurjar leader Kirori Singh Bainsla told that he was not satisfied with delegation meet with the ministers held on 14th May. As the government is not ready to fulfill their demands so they will begin agitation.

Reservation Quota Rajasthan
In October 2017, the Rajasthan Assembly passed a bill to raise OBC reservation from 21 to 26 per cent to create a new category within it for Gujjars and some other castes. But, Rajasthan high court put a stay on the bill as it would have increased the reservation to 54 per cent. Further Supreme Court also directed not to exceed the 50 percent reservation cap.
