In the wake of a dramatic demonstration announced by Congress to win the farmer’s hearts by ostentatious means, the incumbent BJP government decided to channelise their energies towards protecting and empowering the farmers, in every sense of the word.
The Rajasthan government led by CM Raje decided to purchase garlic from farmers to ensure they are paid value for their produce.The state government announced its intention to buy garlic at a magical rate of Rs 3,200 per quintal on Tuesday. Considering the massive produce of farmers, the government has decided to buy atleast 10000 metric tons.
Garlic will be purchased in lot quantity of 3000, 3500, 2000, 1000, and 500 metric tons which would be purchased at various purchase centers respectively in Kota, Chipabarode of Baran, Khanpur of Jhalawar, Keshoraipatan of Bundi and Pratapgarh districts.
Required Documents for selling produce
If a farmer wishes to sell his produce to the government, he must atleast carry along these two documents to the purchase centers:
- Girdawari certificate,
- Atleast one ID
Payment to Farmers
Garlic cultivators will be paid the promised sum against their produce within three days through either of the following modes:
- Account payee (A/C) cheque or
- RTGS
Prabhulal Saini, state agriculture minister visited Bhamashaha Mandi to assess the entire garlic purchase process. He also pacified the worried farmers by informing that the garlic purchase limit of 10,000 metric tons can be increased by the government.
These purchases will be made through RAJFED under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) at Bhamashaha Mandi in Kota. Besides, four other purchase centres in Baran, Bundi, Jhalawar and Pratapgarh districts have been finalized for this purpose. The garlic purchase at MIS price will continue till July 12.
