If you are in Rajasthan and talking over mobile phone while driving, it will now cost you your license. There is increase in no. of cases of accidents due to people’s carelessness. One can see that every second driver is on phone while driving. This led the Jodhpur bench of Rajasthan High Court to take action. Traffic Police are directed by the Jodhpur bench of Rajasthan High Court to obtain photographs of such violators and forward their credentials to the regional transport office for cancellation of driving license.
Reason behind this action
A large number of four- and two-wheeler drivers used mobile phones while driving which is not safe. It is stated by the additional commissioner of police (traffic) before the court. Even the RTO and transport department authorities are also ordered to initiate proceedings to cancel licenses after hearing. It is important that this rule must be strictly implemented across India.
As per the reports of World Health Organization, it is found that using mobile phones while driving higher the risk of crash. In India, 2,138 lives (approx.) lives were lost due to usage of mobile phone while driving. There are possibilities that real figures could be much higher than this.
Not only talking while driving is risky but also taking selfies are very dangerous. When people drive while talking then they impose threat to lives of themselves as well as others.
