The fight of Gurjars to get the reservation with the Rajasthan government will now put to an end. The government of Rajasthan has decided to provide one per cent reservation within the 50 per cent limit to Gurjars and four other communities while retaining their OBC status. This has been approved by the cabinet.
With this allotment of one per cent reservation to five communities, the reservation quota in Rajasthan reached to the limit of 50 per cent. The present overall reservation percentage in the state stands at 49 per cent.
The decision to give reservation came as the gurjars threatened to protest. The community also demanded for job quota. Well.. now the gurjars can enjoy the job benefits in the state due to reservation.
The state government of Rajasthan had tried thrice to find a workable solution to the Gurjars’ reservation demand. But due to some or other reasons it had not been approved by the court.
