Well, for the people eagerly waiting for monsoon and rainfall and for the innocent farmers of the state of Rajasthan, good news has come. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi, has assured that Rajasthan is expecting a 110% of rainfall in 2016. This means if an average rainfall of 530.88 mm was recorded in 2015, there would be around 10% more rainfall comparatively in the approaching monsoon season.
An officer with the Met office on Sunday said, “This year, rainfall would be better than last year. Many districts which remained parched last year will get a good amount of rainfall. The districts including Kota, Baran, Jhalawar and Bundi will get excess rainfall.”
“Out of the 33 districts, 16 districts had got more than average rainfall, 10 districts had got average rainfall while 7 districts received deficit rainfall last year. This year, it appears that the districts including Nagaur, Bharatpur, Dholpur, Karauli, Jaisalmer and Jalore that had got deficit rainfall too will get a good rainfall,” said another officer.
“The humidity levels have already started rising and there is a possibility of pre-monsoon rainfall in next one week. Many places in the western Rajasthan will get moderate showers and dust storm. The climatic conditions are favourable for the onset of monsoon,” said an officer.
He added, “Majority of places in southern Rajasthan will get excess rainfall. In eastern and northern Rajasthan, normal rainfall would be witnessed while deficit rainfall is expected in western Rajasthan.”
