Rajasthan state has many reasons to be proud of. This time, it is men in khakhi from Rajasthan i.e. officials of the Rajasthan police. Many laurels have bagged prestigious awards in the past decades from various places. Recently, IPS Vikas Kumar is being awarded the Satyendra K Dubey Memorial Award (SDA) of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK). He is the Superintendent of Police in the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Satyendra K Dubey Memorial Award is given to an alumnus of any IIT who has distinguished himself/herself by displaying highest professional integrity for upholding human values. Getting prestigious awards, not only bring glory to them but to the other policemen too.
Who is IPS Vikas Kumar?
Graduated from the prestigious IIT-Kanpur in 1997, Vikas Kumar worked as a software engineer in the Indian railways. He was an IRS officer too. After getting selected for the police services in Rajasthan cadre in 2004, he continuously worked at various positions in the past 13 years.
He has a vast experience in dealing various challenges like for illegal mining, communal violence, highway robberies and illicit arms trade etc in the Rajasthan state. Vikas Kumar is well known for playing key role in restoring peace during Gurjar-Meena agitation of 2009-10. His took concrete action against liquor mafia activities in Sikar in 2010.
Talking about his recent working as SP ATS, Kumar in being indulged in tackling heinous issues like arresting ISIS operatives and detection of army recruitment scam. He also counterfeits pan-India arms licence scam operating from Jammu and Kashmir.

Satyendra K Dubey Memorial Award (SDA) of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur adds to the list of awards Mr. Kumar has. He is being awarded for his services so many times. He got President of India award for proficiency in police science while Home Ministry’s trophy for best work for communal harmony and national integration. For proficiency in the maintenance of public peace and order, Mr. Vikas Kumar got BS Memorial trophy and order while Teja Singh Memorial Trophy for work in criminology.
