Now, the states of Assam and Rajasthan are ready to start the system of e-way bill for intra-state movement of goods from this week itself. After Assam and Rajasthan, the total number of Indian states and union territories which have implemented this system reached to 20. Assam will implement it from May 16 while Rajasthan will start from May 20.
“It is expected that trade and industry will be further facilitated insofar as the transport of goods is concerned, thereby eventually paving the way for a nation-wide single e-way bill system,” according to official statement.
Electronic way or e-way bill system
Indian government had launched the electronic way or e-way bill system for moving goods worth over Rs 50,000 from one state to another from 1st April, 2018.
States that rolled out e-way bill system
Till May 13, the e-way bill system for intra-state movement of goods has been rolled out in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Puducherry.
Since the time the e-way bills have started, more than four crore and fifteen lakh e-way bills have been successfully generated which includes more than one crore e-way bills for intra-state movement of goods.
