This year Parshuram Jayanti has become more special for Brahmin community. It is continuous demand of the community from many years to announce mandatory leave on Parshuram Jayanti. So, the state government of Rajasthan has declared Parshuram Jayanti as public holiday across the state. It was an optional holiday previously in Rajasthan. Falling on April 18 this year, the state government has made made it mandatory.
Chief Minister of the state Vasundhara Raje issued an order about giving mandatory leave on this day. In fact, an order is issued on the website that amendment has been brought to make Parshuram Jayanti, scheduled as an “optional leave” to a “public holiday” across state.
This decision is taken by the state government as a token of respect towards the community. Sarv Brahmin Mahasabha is happy as the government has finally agreed to their demand. The Brahmin outfits revere lord Parshuram.

Parshuram is considered as the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is the epitome of valour. According to Hindu mythology, a kshatriya king killed his parents and Parshuram vowed to kill all the kshatriyas on this earth and made it free from the autocracy of the kshatriyas. Celebrated on the 3rd day of Shukla Paksh of Vaishakh month, Akshaya Tritiya is another name for Parshuram Jayanti. The people observe fast on this day to have sons. On this occasion, rallies, satsang and processions will take place.
