Monsoon this year has been better than any previous years in the arid state of Rajasthan. So much so that in few districts the conditions went from bad to worse and there were flood like situations. People were though safely rescued by the government of the state and were safely relocated to better safer places for the mean time. Monsoon now finally is taking an exit from the state, especially from the western Rajasthanas projected by the India Meteorological Department.
“In view of the changeover of the lower tropospheric circulation pattern from cyclonic to anticyclonic, reduction of humidity in the lower tropospheric levels and dry weather prevailing over west Rajasthan, the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of west Rajasthan, today the 15th September, 2016,” the weather office said on Thursday in its mid-day forecast report.
“The withdrawal line passes through Anupgarh, Bikaner and Jaisalmer,” the report added.
The weather office further told, “There are expectations of rainfall over various parts of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra till September 18 and monsoon takes an exit from the state of Rajasthan, followed by rain in the northeast, Goa and the Konkan region.
Also the weather offices has forecasted mild rainfall at many places in the east and northeast, along west coast and a few places over the central and adjoining southern areas from September-20-22,. It said, “Rain is likely at a few places over the rest of the country, except Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan, where weather is likely to be dry. The withdrawal of the monsoon from the east and northeast is expected to take time. The retreat of the southwest monsoon coincides with the onset of the northeast monsoon (October-December) in south India.”
The weather office also reported, “The normal date for withdrawal of the monsoon from west Rajasthan is September 1 and by mid-October it retreats completely from the northern half of the peninsula.”
But if look at the average rainfall received throughout the country along with Rajasthan, according to the weather department, from June 1 to September 14 was 5% below average rainfall in India was below average.
