In an attempt to support PM Narendra Modi’s “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” (Clean India Mission), the airport authority of India (AAI) conducts a cleanliness survey every year. The survey scans all airports in India to ascertain the exact status of on-campus hygiene and cleanliness. This year’s survey brought happy news for Rajasthan because two of its cities—Jodhpur and Udaipur made it to the list of top 10 airports in India, in terms of cleanliness.
The central airport authorities have conducted random inspections in 125 airports of India. This survey was conducted randomly on the airports. All live passengers and staffs were included in this mission to acquire genuine feedbacks. After analyzing all reviews thoroughly last month, the results were finally declared in March. Rajasthan is the only Indian state that boasts double nominations at country-level.
Here’s the list of 10 cleanest airports in India for 2016-2017.
- Kolkata
- Bhubaneswar
- Lucknow
- Pune
- Raipur
- Jodhpur
- Udaipur
- Trivendram
- Srinagar
- Dehradun
If you found Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad or Bangalore missing from the top 10 list, it’s because these airports are operated by private agencies. The competition is restricted to government airports only. All 10 airports will be further investigated and the best one will be bestowed with the award for cleanliness.
A team of AAI officers will survey the airports from March 1 to March 15. The airport authority will consider 13 different modes for acquiring feedback for individual airports. The teams will inspect the airports and collect reviews from the passengers.
According to Jodhpur airport director SK Singh, it’s a matter of pride for Rajasthan that their airport has ranked 6th on the list. Other 9 airfields preset on the top 10 list have new, revamped buildings. Jodhpur airport, despite being the oldest airport on list has still made it to the top 10 list.
The officers are eyeing the first position now. They’re hopeful that Rajasthan will bag the award for having the cleanest airports in India.
