After excelling in the cleanliness parameters, Jaipur authorities are elevating its levels by attempting to connect the scattered dots for complete infrastructure development of the city. Prime Minister had introduced a pioneer scheme of providing affordable houses to underprivileged section of the society. Although the scheme was not completely implemented, the Jaipur Development Authorities are setting new horizons for them and sending letters to EWS (Economic Weaker Section) and LIG (Lower Income Group) allottees regarding the colonies to construct houses.
Under the housing schemes, JDA had apportioned the plots for LIG and EWS groups. This was doen 15 years back but saw no light of hopes since then. But, now, the authorities are ardent to help people to get loans from the banks and also help them to get subsidy.
One JDA official mentioned that, “We will soon invite online and offline applications. The camps will also be organised for the same. The target can be achieved in this manner”.
People get subsidy of Rs. 1.5 lakh under Jan Awas Yojna for building the houses up to a plot size of 75 square metre. In the letter, the JDA will mention about the extra additions and perks provided to them.
One senior official also mentioned, “For the scheme, we have received 700 applications. But, most of the applicants were from other cities of the state. Also applicants already had plots in RHB and JDA scheme”.
The affordable housing scheme is not limited to this much as UDH (urban development and housing) has asked to include many other developmental changes to promote the better construction of EWS and LIG houses.
With this, the authorities have to achieve the target of constructing 10 lakh houses in coming 2 years.
UDH official promptly mentioned that, “We have proposed to give priority to this model due to cold response from developers to construct EWS/LIG houses on private land. Though the final decision will only be taken after receiving approval from the cabinet”.
