Illegal encroachments are very common in Jaipur which emerged out a big issue. These encroachments occupy the space, leaving no space for parking before available buildings such as malls, hospitals, colleges, shopping complexes. Hence, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has issued orders to remove illegal encroachments in front of these buildings. This order is issued by JDA to resolve parking issue on the city’s busy and narrow lanes for years.
This order comes as traffic police of Jaipur complained about lack of proper parking space in commercial buildings. “Last month, a resident welfare association (RWA) complained that residential areas were also affected by illegal parking,” said the official.
The problem becomes so complicated as civic bodies failed to regulate building permission norms. As per rules, all commercial areas must have spaces for parking vehicles. Hence, the problem of traffic management is not limited to commercial establishments but to the residential area too.
Although many of shopping malls and complexes have adequate underground parking spaces as per building rules still the issue of parking was there. Even many outlets have provided valet parking for smooth flow of traffic but a strong step is required to be taken in this area.
Most busy areas in Jaipur
Talking about the Tonk Road stretch, it has highest parking problems. On this road, there are over two dozen leading shopping complexes, sweet shops and malls. But there are no appropriate parking provisions for customers. Traffic Police find it really difficult to manage traffic on this road and during festive season this situation worsens. Many a time, customers have found to be seen parking their vehicles on the road.
With this new rule, it is expected that it would help to maintain traffic in areas like Tonk Road and parts of Gopalpura where there are many commercial outlets.
