The work of Ring Road has been put on hold by the National Highway Authority of India. This happens after the objection raised by water resources department. It said that the construction has hit the roadblock at Nevta dam area. A complaint had been made to Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) regarding Ring Road being constructed in Nevta lake area.
What is the issue?
Earlier, the plan of JDA was to acquire land of Nevta dam falling in 47-km Ring Road alignment but the land was refused as it would disturb the capacity area. Nearly 1,100 metre of irrigation land in Nevta dam is overlapping the Ring Road. JDA had sent proposal to the irrigation department multiple times but the irrigation department is not ready to surrender the land.
On the contrary, a JDA official said on the 1,100-metre land, the JDA had proposed to construct an elevated road and it would not affect the capacity of the dam. The main dam is nearly 1.5 kilometre away from the ‘capacity area’. JDA claimed that this idea was not accepted as it would increase the cost.
The Ring Road is a plan to interlink highways with metro cities and to bring traffic congestion is on track. This project has been going on from long but not gets completed as some or other issue arises.
