In a bid to manage the air traffic congestion, a parallel taxi track is being constructed at the Jaipur Airport. As of now, there’s only one runway in the airport which is used for the landing and take-offs of all the flights. Consequently, this creates difficulty in managing the air traffic.
Considering situations when a plane is about to take off, no other flight can land until the runway is clear. It usually takes 8-10 minutes for a plane to take off and during this time, the flight which is about to land has to wait for that duration. This leads to wastage of time as well as fuel.
Taxi Track on Jaipur Airport
In order to provide a solution for this, a taxi track will be constructed on the terminal 2 of Jaipur Airport. Much like any other airport, this track will facilitate the landing and take-off for multiple flights at the same time. For the track, the government will be utilizing the land near Jagatpura area. The government will also provide necessary help regarding technical assistance to the airport authority.
Sanganer Airport
After the construction of terminal 2, the use of old terminals has been put on hold. For some time, this terminal was being used for Haj flights but currently, it has been kept empty. So, considering the air traffic congestion, the Aviation Ministry has decided to start the operation of this terminal.
Air Traffic at Jaipur Airport
As per the plans, this terminal will solve the air traffic congestion issues to a considerable level. Interestingly, more than 35 Lakh passengers travel by air, every year, from Jaipur airport. Every day, almost 60 flights are operated, out of which 6 are international while the rest are national.
