It’s been just a few days of Congress leader Ashok Gehlot taking an oath as Rajasthan Chief Minister, the first case of impropriety by a former minister has hit the party recently. Former Congress minister Bharat Singh was caught on camera threatening a manager of toll road company to give Rs 5 lakh as compensation for an employee who died due to illness. The incident occurred in Sangod in Kota. Bharat Singh cabinet-level minister in the last regime of Ashok Gehlot.
Bharat Singh reached the Simaliya toll booth on Saturday with the dead body of Teekam, an employee who died of illness and told the manager to pay up Rs 5 lakh as compensation or there would be ‘Two corpses lying there.’
Singh threatened the manager, said, ‘Pay up Rs 5 lakh or you will be beaten up. There will be two dead bodies if you don’t pay up. Have some shame, you are collecting toll on such a bad road and a person has died yet you are not ready to pay up.’
Bharat Singh is heard saying in a video. It is unclear as of now whether the death of the toll booth employee occurred while on the job or otherwise. Sources, however, say that Teekam died due to ‘illness’. However, toll road company agreed to give money under pressure.
