Know what makes Jaipur unique
In 2015, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had submitted a proposal to the UNESCO demanding status of Jaipur city as World Heritage City. Jaipur has 18th century town plan form architectural styles and an amalgamation of cultures which makes the city unique. Spread over two square km area, it is a well-defined city wall with nine city gates. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most renowned planned cities of India that boasts of magnificent, grandeur and royalty.

Talking about the Walled City, it showcases astronomical skills, historical values and exemplary foresighted city planning. During the 18th and 19th centuries, the city got appreciation from foreign travelers for grid iron planning as it very advanced for its times. To bag the title, the team of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will visit Jaipur for five-days for inspection in September 2018. The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) urged ASI to carry out this task. ICOMOS is a formal advisory body to the World Heritage Committee constituted by UNESCO.
Preparations by JMC for getting the award
Jaipur Municipal Corporation has given instructions to maintain the heritage structures in the Walled City area. JMC has also directed the local bodies to restore the façade around the Walled City with tampering with the originality of such structures.
