World Health Organisation (WHO) on Thursday released its urban air quality database list of the most populated cities in the world. Apparently, 5 cities of the state of Rajasthan has been listed which signal the increasing pollution in the state. The deteriorating air quality has made Jodhpur rank 30th in the list followed by Jaipur on number 33, Kota on number 58, Udaipur on number 59 and Alwar on number 61. A list of total 3000 cities in the world has been released.
A total of 122 cities from India have been listed and Jodhpur is listed number 13th in India’s most polluted cities whereas Jaipur stands 15th. All the five cities of Rajasthan are among the top 25 most polluted cities in the country.
Doctor and professor, institute of respiratory diseases, SMS Medical College, Narendra Khippal said, “With rise in air pollution, the obstructive airway diseases are on the rise. Every year it is increasing 10-15% in Jaipur. It also causes allergic conjunctivitis and among children allergic rhinitis is the reason of air pollution.”
