History has been created for India in Rio Olympics 2016 this summer as the Badminton star PV Sindhu becomes the first Indian woman to grab the silver medal in Olympics. The game was won on Friday which created history with the terrific performance full of talent, grace, and power. The country is blooming with the hard work and courage of this shuttler. She brought proudly and glory to India by winning silver in women’s singles badminton following a neck-to-neck match with the two-time World Champion Carolina Marin of Spain. She had to settle for silver with 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 match points.
Sindhu is a 21- year old girl in her first Olympic games has performed aggressively during the entire tournament. The star’s coach P Gopichand also seem excited about the win as the medal was equally valuable for him as it is for Sindhu. After Sindhu won the medal, Gopichand urged her to bite the medal as it is a tradition. With the medal around her neck, she looked calm and gracious.
“I ended up with a silver medal but am really happy,” said Sindhu right after finishing the match. “I’m really proud of it. I’m really happy. I could not win the gold. But I really worked hard. It was anybody’s game. A day before a girl has got a bronze, it’s me now. We have all played well. There will be ups and downs in a sport like in life. Losing one or two points. I would like to congratulate everyone. It’s been a great week for me.”
The medal came as a glory for Indians and thereafter the hour of celebration started. Chief Ministers of various states of India have posted messages for PV Sindhu applauding her for becoming the first woman Indian athlete to clinch a silver medal at the prestigious quadrennial event.
Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also congratulated her in a unique way. She tweeted, “Discipline, passion & patience—@Pvsindhu1 you’ve given it all! India is proud of you. You’ve done us proud, @Pvsindhu1 — You’ve done India proud!! Salute your spirit!”

It was focused to honor PV Sindhu in a different way by making her a part of Rajasthan through “SINDHUSTAN”.
With this feat, Sindhu has also become the fifth Indian woman to grab a medal in Olympics history after Karnam Malleswari, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sakshi Malik.
