Renovation
Rajasthan paves way to take several measures like construction of Bawri and wells.

The Ajmer Development Authority (ADA) has initiated the work towards renovating the ‘Nachan Baori’ under Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Yojana.

ADA on Friday began digging a stepwell (baori) which was built during the time of Chauhan dynasty in Ajmer. Around 10 lakh litres of water will be brought from rooftop harvesting at nearby ARG city. The stepwell got the name ‘Nachan’ because when water entered this zone, villagers started to dance to savour the moment in its entirety.

Nachan Baori lies at the entrance road to Ajmer (from Jaipur) in the premises of Samrat Ashok Udhiyan.

“It was abandoned. We found that it was made about 1,000 years ago and decided to renovate it to recharge groundwater,” said Shiv Shanker Heda, chairman of ADA.

In a volunteering activity on Friday, people’s representatives and officials dug out silt and stones from the baori to commemorate its construction. “The architecture of the baori is fascinating and we are bringing water by laying pipelines from the nearby residential areas,” said Mahender Parsad Verma, executive engineer and head of the programme.

Water is life. Every state is doing it's bit to conserve it. Raje-led Rajasthan stands out with its frequent measure to mitigate water scarcity.

ADA will lay a 200m long pipeline connecting the baori. An official said,”The nearby residential area has a water harvesting system and they collect about 30 lakh litres of water during rainy days. The overflow water is of no use to them. That water will be used to fill the bawri.”

ADA is planning to equip the place as a flourishing tourist attraction which would demonstrate the water management of royal dynasty of Ajmer. “We are motivated by the programme of chief minister Vasundhara Raje and are geared up to renovate this baori which would recharge groundwater through rainfall,” added Heda.

Officials said that ADA is planning to develop this place as a tourist attraction because of its historic nuances. “It is said that there was a dance in trance when water was found here in the baori and, therefore, developing the place is a positive sign,” spelled an official.

Remarkably, all those small things which intensify the lifestyle of public, have always been solicited by the incumbent Rajasthan government. Any policy or programme which seeks to ameliorate the livelihood of the Aam Aadmi is always prioritized by the Raje’s government.

With the stepwell being built, various hassles faced by the villagers with water and its scarcity are likely to be mitigated. Dearth of water in the city is soon to be resolved at the earliest through these small steps. Afterall, small steps lead to big leaps!
