Owing to the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna in Ajmer district, many development works have been pursued regarding farm ponds. This has helped farmers in combating the issue of water shortage in farming. The Rajasthan government has efficiently worked towards countering problems of water scarcity in numerous ways. Smt Ramta Devi from Ajmer is one of those villagers who has received the benefit of increased crop production with the help of the agriculture department.
After introducing efficient irrigation systems like drip and fountain irrigation that have been made mandatory, the farmers have gained a lot of benefits. The government has also allocated funds for a lot of projects like Jal Swavlamban Yojna to ensure optimum utilization of water and reduce its wastage. Throughout the state, projects and schemes have been implemented that have changed the face of Rajasthan which was earlier conceived as a dry, arid state.
Talking about Ajmer, in the Devgaon village of Kekdi Tehsil, the story of Smt. Ramta Devi is inspiring and delightful. Under Krishi Vikas Yojna 2016-17, she got the farm pond constructed in her fields that served as a savior for her fields. Earlier, the problem of water scarcity created issues in irrigation and also affected the yields.

After interacting with the department of agriculture and gaining knowledge about it, Ramta Devi’s husband Gheesalal Dhaakad got the farm pond constructed in the fields. After the construction of the pond, around 12 Lakh liters of water was collected, thereby solving all the problems of bad crop yields. The production of both Rabi and Kharif crops spruced up.
Consequently, this not only solved the problem of bad crop production and water scarcity but also made possible for men to stay in the village to earn their livelihood. In the construction of the farm pond, a total amount of INR 1, 10,000 was spent. Smt Ramta Devi told that a sum of INR 52,500 was provided to her.
