Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje criticized the Rajsamand murder that took place on Wednesday, whereby a laborer was beaten with an axe and then burnt alive. CM Raje also congratulated the Police department’s prompt action on arresting the criminal behind the gruesome murder. She stated, “This is a deplorable act which needs to be condemned in strongest possible terms.”
The entire incident took place over “love jihad” as revealed by the viral video which was shot and then uploaded on the internet. The video shows the convict Shambhulal Raigar attacking a laborer from West Bengal with an axe. Later he was burnt alive in a horrified manner. In the video, the murderer also said that anyone involved in love jihad will meet the same fate and he even talked about wiping out “Islamic Jihad from Mewar”.
A special Investigation team (SIT) led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajsamand was formed to probe the case and the convict Shambhulal Raigar was arrested within 24 hours of the gruesome murder.
As per the reports, 8 more people who are believed to be aides of the convict Shambhulal have been detained by the Police. The entire incident is believed to be pre-meditated with an aim to disturb the harmony of the society. The police department has urged the public not to circulate the viral video and be assured that the murderer will be prosecuted in the shortest time possible.
