The long seven days strike by doctors of Rajasthan has finally been called off. After the long discussion between government officials and a four-member team from the Rajasthan Doctors’ Association (ARISDA), the doctors put the protest to the end. The protest was end on 12 November. The doctors in the state went on strike with a 33-point demand. Let’s know more about the demands.
Highlights of the meeting
In this meeting, a draft was signed after Rajasthan government and ARISDA. The meeting was attended by health minister Kalicharan Saraf, secretary (Medical Education) Anand Kumar, ACS (Finance) DB Gupta, Principal Secretary (Health) Veenu Gupta, Secretary (Budget) Manju Rajpal and Principal Secretary (Home) Deepak Upreti.
The meeting was held at secretariat around 2 pm and continued till night. The meeting continued so long as there were some issues n reaching to conclusion. Around 11:15 pm, health minister Kalicharan Saraf informed that agreement was signed.
What ARISDA said about the agreement?
“A positive agreement on 33 point demand has come out and right from the moment doctors will come back to their duties at hospitals,” said ARISDA president Dr Ajay Chaudhary on this meeting.
Dr Jagdish Modi, coordinator of ARISDA said,“As per the agreement government promise to execute all our demands. The only demand, to run hospitals in single shift, will be referred to chief minister and she will take a call on it.”
How the strike affected the state of Rajasthan?
This long strike resulted in death of about 30 people, including children. As the services of OPD and surgery were not available so more than 250 major and minor surgeries had been postponed too. This indefinite strike was joined by more than 9,000 in-service doctors and 1,000 senior residents.
