Police stations to go Anti-Tobacco by 2017 end…
Police stations across the state will be declared tobacco-free by the end of 2017. A host of police officers are directing their subordinates to ensure no-tobacco usage at the offices of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Superintendent of Police and its training institutes.
Spreading Awareness and How?
Awareness camps and video-conferencing are some of the many methods through which the government is trying to spread awareness about the ill-effects of using tobacco.
Officials encourage subordinates
DGP Manoj Bhatt senior officials asked all officers to ensure that tobacco products are not used inside the premises of state police headquarters.
“It is not that we will use some punishment. It is a gradual process as we are organizing camps and have roped in specialist doctors who are teaching our men about the ill-effects of tobacco,” Bhatt informed.
In a recent video conference with the IGs and SPs of state, a team of doctors highlighted the ill-effects of tobacco and its products,” Bhatt added.
Bhatt also informed that tobacco has already been curtailed across all police stations. This is another stringent step to ensure that tobacco is prohibited at all police wings and stations.
Reports also show that Tobacco use has tanked over years
According to GATS report, it is also known that from 34.6% in 2009-10, the number has now reduced to 28.65.

Amidst the rising number of diagnosis of Cancer among middle-aged individulas, Tobacco is only another major driver for cancer. Tobacco, excessive smoking is to be blamed for rising cancer-diagnosis population across the globe. The initiative of minimalising the use of tobacco will be a massive step towards thwarting the growth of Cancer in the country.
