Facing a tough competition from private travel companies, the RSRTC (Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation) has incurred a momentous loss in bus bookings last year. To help them cope with this colossal financial setback, last month Rajasthan government announced a financial package worth 360 crores to improve the existing condition of the buses. Having received the funds, the department is now braced up to make major challenges in road travel. Next week, the RSRTC officers have plans to launch sleeper buses on long routes. At the starting of a brand new month, the RSRTC will try to break the monopoly of private travel companies by introducing their prim and proper line of sleeper buses.
RSRTC Involves New Buses to Enhance Inter and Intra State Road Connectivity
Just last month, the department has introduced 100 blue line and 5 scania buses (manufactured by Swedish company) within the state. The new buses were flagged off by Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje, who congratulated the officers on their efforts to establish a close-knit intra-state connectivity network.
The RSRTC officers have plans to introduce 500 buses in total, out of which, a few of them will be introduced on long routes connecting Rajasthan’s capital (Jaipur) to Bhopal, Baroda, Ahmedabad and Indore. The idea is to promote inter-state road travel, which comes in handy during festive season.
Other than the outside states, the officers will attempt to introduce sleeper buses between Jaipur and Chirawa, Sikar, Alwar or Bharatpur. These are common routes taken by natives in Rajasthan.
Apart from boosting local tourism economy, the buses will help government establish a strong trade system via roads. For instance, local traders can communicate with Surat textile workers to encourage trade activities. The buses will provide a cheap means of travel for hundreds of students who flock in Kota for examination preparations.
As of now, the RSRTC is all braced up to launch this change. If all goes well, they’ll soon be able to recover their losses.
