Nand Lal, who’s relatively stable after the operation, reported the incidents of this mishap to the Police…
Spooked private cabbies around the city congregated outside the Shipra Path police station in Jaipur to seek justice for 24-year old Uber driver Nand Lal, who was mercilessly shot by an unknown group of criminals on Thursday morning. According to the local drivers, incidents like these are frightening since they put the lives of public and private car operators at risk.
For those who didn’t know, Nand Lal, who’s a resident of Tonk district, drives an Uber car in the ‘Pink City’. This Thursday, while he was dropping off the passengers in the dead of the night, a group of unidentified criminals riding a car shot him in his chest. The incident took place around 12.30am in Shyam Nagar near Gajsinghpura, Gopalpura Bypass. After shooting the driver, they left him to bleed on the pavement and drove off with his taxi to an unknown destination. The on-lookers initially considered it as a case of loot.
The appalled witnesses dialled 108 to call local ambulance service. The paramedics rushed the wounded victim to Jaipuria Hospital. A few responsible citizens informed the Shyamnagar police squad that started a preliminary investigation to spot the escapees. The dog squad team and FSL were employed for the hunt. Approximately two years since the incident, the police recovered his cab from Vinayak Paradise in Mangiyavas area. Apparently, no evidence pointing out to the criminals.
The police suspected it as an outcome of personal rivalries. As for the doctors, they’ve successfully operated on Nand Lal Chaudhary and his condition is relatively stable now. The police recorded his statement. Using it as a tool, they’ve re-launched the investigations. A few suspects have been detained based on the description of the victim and the CCTV footage. The police is searching for clues that will lead them to the criminals now.
Nand Lal, who lives in a rented house near Heerapura Power House in Tagore Nagar drives a rented taxi since last three years. On Wednesday morning, he accompanied his friend Rajaram and Shankar to a tea stall in C-Scheme. Thereafter, he has been dropping passengers on booking, the entire day.
According to the police, the criminals were well-familiar with the victim’s movement. Therefore, it was not an incident of loot, but a planned conspiracy. Having suspected this, the police is checking the call records of the driver to check if the assailants called him before executing this deadly plan. They’ll question his friends, employers, neighbours and the on-lookers to establish the identity of the offenders.
