On Wednesday, Khadi board made an important announcement regarding the launch of the first edition of the Rajasthani Heritage Week. In this event, many award-winning craftsmen accompanied with well-known designers will join to celebrate and praise the handmade fabrics of the state.
The three day event was announced by The Khadi Board and the state government in association with Prasad Bidapa Associates and will start on December 3 in Pink City, Jaipur. The main motive behind the event is to exhibit the beauty and advanced luxury of heritage.
For the event, Chief Minister, Vasundhara Raje mentioned, ” The Rajasthan Heritage Week is part of the textile development programme that reaffirms our commitment to the traditional textile weavers of our State, who have tirelessly worked to continue the legacy of our forefathers”.
She also adds that they have liveliness in their work and also the art is ages old, this combination of techniques yields superb products which adds favourably to the perception of Rajasthan.
The event will welcome some very famously known designers which include Manish Malhotra, Bibi Russel, Ritu Kumar, Abraham and Thakore and Hemant Trivedi. All these fashion personalities have worked with all award-winning artisans to present their elaborated and intricate designs and also their art getting the heritage fabrics in use.
Russell, who is working incessantly with Rajasthan’s artisans and weavers explained that, “The Rajasthan Heritage Week is a project which is close to my heart. In Rajasthan, I have had the privilege of working with Khadi, Kota and other crafts. Surely through this initiative all the local artisans will get a better opportunity to show their unique talent nationally and globally.”
Prasad Bidapa is the chief creative director and organiser of the project and is quite excited for the event and said that, “The Rajasthan Heritage Week is a unique perspective that integrates the traditional textile arts of the state with the most talented designers in India and abroad. In the same way that the Irish made a global Statement with their linen, India needs to brand its Khadi and handloom masterpieces and position them as true luxury that is rare and unique.”
The main focus and purpose behind Rajasthan Heritage Week is to exhibit and advertise the multifaceted brilliance of the heritage fabrics. In the form of fashionable and modern silhouettes the event will manifest the versatility of the fabrics which are well suited for various different occasions for the buyers around the country and outside in the world.
