Rajasthan is about to get a bonus to the shivers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted cold wave and severe cold wave conditions for Rajasthan along with Punjab and Haryana for the next three days. The days will face an increase in severity and spatial coverage.
The weather bureau also said that isolated cold wave conditions will develop over west Uttar Pradesh which will affect the temperature in Rajasthan.
The IMD on Thursday put several sub-division on ‘alert’ and ‘watch’ warnings for cold wave conditions. These include west Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Private weather forecaster Skymet predicted moderate fog over parts of Vidarbha and light fog and mist after 24 hours.
According to the IMD, typical criteria for declaring cold wave conditions in the region involves the actual temperature dipping low enough to be equal to or below 10 degrees Celsius and the departure being -4.5 degrees Celsius to -6.4 degrees Celsius in at least two locations.
Cold wave and ground frost conditions prevailed at places in Rajasthan, where minimum temperatures are below 2 degrees Celsius. Rajasthan’s Fatehpur and Churu recorded minimum temperature in the last few days. This cold wave is going to affect almost entire state with the temperature drop.
