No money in pocket, unavailability of change, scrapped Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes and long queues at banks or ATMs, no such excuses will do little to save traffic offenders in Jaipur next week. Smart traffic policemen have decided to go tech-savvy to curb road offenses. From next week onwards, cops will stop collecting fines in cash, rather they’ll ask offenders to pay via cards, online banking at e-mitra or paytm portal. Quite a unique way to prevent road crimes in the city!

Traffic police department will collaborate with the Department of Information Technology & Communication (DIPC) to implement their cashless challan scheme that will help the offenders pay fines online, as reported by Haider Ali Zaidi DCP Traffic.
New E-Postal Service for Dispatching Seized Documents
When charged with a fine, the police usually ceases the violator’s documents that are later returned to them at Yadgar challan branch in Ajmeri Gate. However, now bent at embracing the ‘e-way’, the authorities have decided to rope in Rajasthan postal department in their new crusade. Together, they’ll launch a postal service to dispatch these documents at violator’s address by post. For this service, they’ll charge an extra fee worth Rs. 18 for local post and Rs. 40 for posting to remote regions. Information regarding this service.
As per the sources, traffic constables will carry a handheld e-challan machine with them at all time. When a driver is caught for breaking traffic rules, they can punch in the vehicle registration number to generate e-challan in his name. A copy of this will be immediately texted to the violator’s mobile phone.
Once the text is received, these motorists can opt to pay fine via e-wallets and online portals or by swiping cards on the spot. Motorists, who don’t have plastic money options can transfer money via NEFTs.
In short, no crime shall go unpunished and the staff, henceforth, will be more vigilant at dealing with the offenders.
