Almost 10,000 workers were stuck in Saudi Arabia as they were laid off from their jobs there. They were left to starve without any food and basic facilities. Government of India took immediate actions to airlift these stranded laborers in Saudi Arabia. Also On August 1, 2016, Sushma Swaraj told the Indian Parliament: “Not one worker of ours will go hungry. This is my assurance to the country through Parliament. We will bring all of them back to India.”Many actions like arranging exit visas etc are being undertaken by the government of India in order to bring back the people of the country who belong to different states.
Every state government too, is doing its part in order to make every possible effort to safely bring back the laborers. Reportedly, around 45 labourers from Rajasthan have successfully arrived back from Saudi Arabia who were stranded there due to the on-going financial crisis. Arrangements were being made as per the directions of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasndhara Raje and the labourers were safely sent to their respective destinations in Rajasthan Roadways buses. The labourers hail from various districts of the state including Hanumangarh, Bikaner and the capital city Jaipur. The labourers were first brought to New Delhi and then were brought to their own state with safety.
Additional Resident Commissioner Vimal Sharma informed that each labourer will be provided with 1000 rupees from the chief minister’s relief fund. “Besides, the cost of bus tickets, refreshments during the journey and if necessary, stay in Delhi, will be borne by the state government,” he added.
Mr Sharma said, “This was the biggest contingent of labourers from the state to arrive from Saudi Arabia during the ongoing crisis and so far, around 95 of them have returned to the country.”
These 45 labourers from Rajasthan were among the 70 labourers that have been brought back from Saudi Arabia with the centre’s help on Tuesday night.
