This year July 26 marks the 19th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The nation remembers the brave sons of the soil who had sacrificed their lives in the honour of India. On 26th July, 1999, Indian soldiers successfully recaptured all positions in Kargil region of Jammu and Kashmir and forced the Pakistan Army to retreat. It is a matter of pride for all those who belong to the state of valour and bravery Rajasthan. The soldiers of the land are ready to sacrifice themselves in the service of the nation. In fact, to win back the nation’s glory, many sons of Rajasthan died in Kargil war. Soldiers belonging to various districts of the state had bravely fought and became immortals. Lt. Amit Bharadwaj from Jaipur is highly revered for his contribution for winning the war. Apart from him, the soldiers from Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Bharatpur, Alwar and Churu are glorified forever.

Kargil war was held to drag Pakistani militants from Indian territories. It was one of the toughest operations as it was fought at the high altitude. Indian Army had launched ‘Operation Vijay. After a long battle of two months with Pakistani militants and terrorits, Indian army declared the mission successful on July 26, 1999. Since then, the day is being celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
