Intelligence inputs received from various security agencies including the Intelligence Bureau (IB) have said that dreaded Al-Qaeda terrorist Zakir Musa may be moving in Rajasthan\u2019s Sriganganagar district, which shares its border with Pakistan.<\/p>\n
\u2018The alert was issued in accordance with input shared by special agencies. A similar intelligence input was issued ahead of the assembly elections.\u2019 An official told, adding that a letter has been issued to all station house officers, asking them to step up vigil around sensitive areas, especially near the inter-state borders of Punjab and the Army areas.<\/p>\n
\u2018It is suspected that the terrorist could target Army installations on Rajasthan-Punjab border. Both the state police are in touch with each other for better monitoring.\u2019 the official said.<\/p>\n
Multiple alerts have been issued in the past about Musa\u2019s movements in Rajasthan. Apart from Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh district has also been asked to maintain strict vigil.<\/p>\n
Musa, who heads the terrorist outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH), a cell of Al-Qaeda, in Kashmir Valley, is said to be well-acquainted with places and people in Punjab and in border areas in Rajasthan.<\/p>\n
Zakir Musa was a student in an educational institution in Punjab\u2019s Mohali district, adjoining Chandigarh, from 2010 to 2013 before joining the militant ranks.<\/p>\n
He had succeeded Burhan Wani as the chief of the terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen following Wani\u2019s death in an encounter with security forces in Kashmir in July 2016.<\/p>\n
