Gary Kirsten is all set to play a second innings in Indian Cricket as Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has hoped him to train their Ranji team during a 15-day camp.
It is reported that Gary would not be joining RCA as a full-time coach rather will only impart technical training to Ranji Team players during a camp organized by RCA. It would be a pre-season camp and is planned to get underway on September 5, 2016, in the capital city, Jaipur.
The RCA president Lalit Modi is reported to have played a crucial part in arranging the camp and convincing Kirsten to stay fortnight in Rajasthan for coaching.
As quoted by Rajasthan’s medium pace bowler, Pankaj Singh, “We have been hearing that Kirsten will be coming and holding a camp with us. I was under him for a brief time and he has a great understanding of the game.” He added, “He gives space to each player. He has done wonders for Indian team and even my friends who are in the Indian team raved about his work,” appreciating the talent and work style of Kirsten. It is to be noted that Pankaj Singh has played two test matches for India.
Lalit Modi is said to have a different attitude towards work and it could be noticed in the recent decisions of RCA. Gary Kirsten, on the other hand, is undoubtedly super intelligent and remarkable in his work. He knows how to train players and get the best out of them. This ex-South African player will only train Rajasthan Ranji Team for a couple of weeks but it is believed that the players will learn a lot from him which would benefit them in their sports career for a long period of time.
“A 15-day camp might not bring a lot of changes to our team but it will help players to pick up small points which will help them in future. It’s up to us, the players of RCA how much they learn from Kirsten,” added Singh.
According to an unnamed RCA official about Lalit Modi, the man behind IPL in the country, said, “It was Lalit Modi’s idea to bring Kirsten for a short camp before the start of a tight domestic season. He will have a short 15-day camp with our Ranji Trophy team. He has been the best coach for the Indian team and we all know what he brings with him. He understands Indian players and its culture very well.”
The point which matters is that a personality like Gary Kirsten will come to Rajasthan to coach Rajasthan Ranji Team, who is so expertise in his work that he could be rightly called a Treasure of Talents. Gary has a more than 5-year experience in imparting coaching to the top level international cricketers. This 48-year-old coach has been the Indian coach for a long time and during his regime, India won the ICC World Cup in 2011. Later, he went back to South Africa and trained their national cricket team to rank among the top of the ICC Test rankings in 2012.
