Rajasthan has one more specialty that can surprise people. It is Rashidpura Khori railway station. It is one of such railway stations in India which is maintained and run by the villagers. The Indian Railways do not take care of this. The station is in Sikar district. The rail operations resumed almost after two years in Rashidpura Khori.
But, there is no station in India which is maintained and run by the villagers. As there are many low-traffic stations where railways does not depute staff but no station is like Rashidpura Khori Railway station.
When railway operations stopped at this station two years back then villagers got upset and appealed railway authorities to continue services in some manner. The railways asked to keep Rashidpura Khori functional if villagers managed to generate adequate revenue. As a result, 25,000 residents took the offer and formed a committee to motivate people to use the train. They did a door-to-door campaign and encouraged people to travel only with ticket. With these efforts of villagers, more trains got stoppage at Rashidpura Khori. This station is being run by station for more than seven years.
As the railway operations were stopped for some time so people faced problems. Hence, the resume of railway operations here will be a great relief to the people.
