Recently, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RSPC) released the syllabus for Rajasthan Administrative Services and Allied Services Examinations (RAS) 2018. The syllabus includes some major changes like the exclusion of Mathematics from the Main exams and introduction of Bhagwad Gita under the Niti Shastra unit.
Under this amendment of the curriculum, the RPSC has included management lessons from Bhagwad Gita and lessons from the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Besides, it also includes life sketches of national icons, administrative officers, and some social reformers.
Niti Shastra Unit
The question paper II General Knowledge and General Studies will now contain a subunit titled Bhagwad Gita and Management and Administration. The questions from this subunit are expected to be framed from the 18 chapters that deal with the conversation between Lord Krishna and Arjun. So the aspirants will have to read the book in detail so as to score high in this unit.

Reason behind the Amendment
A junior administrative officer at RPSC said that this idea of exposing students to the management teachings from Bhagwad Gita will help them make decisions as administrative officers. The officer also said that this idea was taken from the change in syllabus done by Rajasthan University that added management techniques from Ramayana, Bhagwad Gita, and Arthashastra for commerce and management colleges.
