Rajasthan’s heritage train ‘Palace on Wheels’ is popular across the world. This train is truly royal and makes the tourist to experience royalty in journey. As per RTDC (Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation) official, there was a small growth of 124 tourists from 2016-17 (1373) to 2017-18 (1497). It made a flat growth of 9% in the number of tourists in 2017-18. In terms of income from operations, it increased from Rs 33.22 crore in 2016-17 to Rs 37.44 crore in 2017-18. There is growth of 12.60 per cent in one year period.
There was also a little change in name as the train run as Heritage Palace on Wheels this tourism season, said RTDC general manager Pradeep Bohra. Apart from this, the train rakes were refurbished to give a new look and super-luxury environment.
Rajasthan state holds immense tourism potential. This royal train has a lot to offer to the tourists. Palace on Wheel was launched by the Indian Railways in association with Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation to promote tourism in Rajasthan. It was started on 26 January 1982 and travels across Rajasthan starting from Delhi. It covers Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bharatpur and Agra.
