Rajasthan has ambitious plans to generate around 7,000 MW of solar energy by the end of 2019 and now the Bhadla solar park will help the state realize its dream. This solar park located in the Jodhpur district is soon going to become the largest solar park in the world.
It will have millions of solar panels installed across the area of more than 45 square kilometers. The plant will generate 2,255 MW of energy. The project will be carried out in 4 phases and currently, the third phase of the project is in progress. As of now, the plant generates 746 MW of energy but with the completion of the third phase will help it generate 1,000 MW.
Apart from the Jodhpur plant, the state has already commissioned projects worth 1592 MW in the past 4 years. Further, it plans to commission many more solar parks by the end of 2019. These include projects that are being developed in the state:
• 750 MW Project by Essel Infra at Pokhran
• 1500 MW Project by Adani Group and State Govt
• 1000 MW Project by RRECL in Jaisalmer
Talking about the phases of the Bhadla Solar Park, under the first phase of the project, five projects of 60 MW have been commissioned. Moving on, 10 projects of 680 MW have been commissioned under the Phase 2. The third phase contains projects of 1000 MW being developed by the Saurya Urja Company. Half of these projects have been awarded at the tariff of INR 2.44 and INR2.45 per unit while the rest are being developed through the online auction at the tariff rate of INR 2.46 and INR 2.47 per unit.
The Bhadla Solar Park is going to bring a positive change in the life of people in the form of employment and business opportunities. Besides, it will also provide clean energy and will help in the overall development of the region.
