Rajasthan government changed the name ‘Rajasthan MISA, DIR prisoners pension rules’ to ‘Rajasthan Loktantra Senani Samman Nidhi Niyam’. In fact, the prisoners of MISA/DIR will be called Loktantra Senani. Rajasthan government allows resident prisoners arrested under Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) and Defence of India Rules (DIR) to get pension.
There is a notification issued by General Administration Department (GAD) making amendments on 1 January, 2018. This amendment came after a meeting held in cabinet of chief minister Vasundhara Raje on December 11. This notification binds the collector to issue all prisoners’ identity card as Loktantra Senani, mentioning all facilities he or she is getting.
What is mentioned in new provision?
The new provision says “Now, any Rajasthan resident prisoner detained anywhere in the country under MISA, DIR will get same medical allowances and pension. Also, those prisoners who have been left out from the pension scheme till date will be covered once they will produce an affidavit with a testimony of two prisoners. The affidavit needs to be attested by the existing or former MLA or MP concerned of the area.”
