In the wake of rising number of swine flu cases in the capital, Rajasthan Health Department is making all possible efforts to counter the situation effectively. The department has formed a committee with three members onboard, who will carry out surprise inspections at private hospitals and keep a check on the medical facilities. This is to ensure that the private hospitals render free test and treatment services to the infected patients.
The state is clearly witnessing a surge in the number of swine flu cases, whereby the number had almost doubled in the month of August and it’s expected to grow even more in the coming months. This new strain in the H1N1 virus is being attributed to the Michigan Strain.
Recently, on 15th September, the private hospitals of Jaipur were instructed by the state government to provide free of cost diagnosis and treatment for swine flu. The meeting was attended by State Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf and representatives from all major private hospitals of Jaipur.
This 3-member committee has been formed to ensure that the hospitals are abiding by the orders. The reports collected by the committee will be regularly submitted to the Medical Education Secretary Mr. Anand Kumar. Out of a total number of 5,500 samples collected from January 1 to September 14, 1900 were found to be H1N1 positive. It’s quite evident that the surge in the cases of swine flu and resulting number of casualties has alarmed the authorities to take quick measures to combat the health issue.
