State of Rajasthan has made a new initiative by starting free e-mail address in Hindi to its residents. With this, Rajasthan has become the first state in the country to start this email facility. The idea to start vernacular e-mail service was shared by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje during Kota Digifest this year. The vernacular e-mail in Hindi was launched on December 3. As per TRAI, total Internet subscribers in India are just about 30 per cent of the country’s population.
As not everyone is fluent in English so they face hindrance in using emails or electronic communication. Hence, this facility will be helpful for those who are not comfortable with English e-mail ids. In fact, all the government personnel in the state will soon have an email id in Hindi too.
To implement this project, the state IT department worked for three months on the project. This email id can be used by the people who use Hindi keyboard as well as English keyboard.
For this initiative, principal secretary, department of information technology and communications, Akhil Arora shared that this aims to ensure maximum participation of people towards e-governance. The efforts are also made to provide maximum facilities in vernacular language.
