World Food India 2017 has been inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. World Food India is the biggest congregation of global investors and business leaders of major food companies. The event is already been highlighted as chef Sanjeev Kapoor would be cooking 800 kg khichdi. India is hosting event for food processing sector for the first time which will be held between 3-5 November. ‘Transforming the Food Economy’ is the actual theme behind this event.
PM Narendra Modi at World Food India spoke,”Our farmers, whom we respectfully call as ‘annadatas’ are central to our efforts in food processing.” PM Modi also talked about basic techniques of cooking used in India. PM also talked about India’s continuous economic development.
At the inaugural ceremony, Union Food Minister Harsimrat Kaur spoke, “As we move towards 2050, world population is set to increase by 25 per cent and demand for food by 50 per cent. We need to wage war against food waste.”
As per the official release it is expected that this year more 2,000 participants along with 400 exhibitors from around 20 countries, 26 states and over 50 global CEOs to participate in the event.
