It has been reported that, Jaipur Rural Police seized Rs. 88 lakh in Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes of old currency. The man who was holding the cash was a passenger in Delhi to Jaipur luxury bus.
From the basic investigation, they figured out that the cash was unaccounted and the income tax department has been intimated for the after investigation.
Kotputli deputy SP Mahmood Khan mentioned that police was provided specific intelligence that a dubious passenger is moving in Delhi-Jaipur bus and has two big bags.
Khan mentioned, “”Near Kotputli, the bus was stopped and checking was carried out. During the checking inside the bus, we found one passenger at seat number 33 particularly suspicious.”
The passenger named Rajendra who is dweller of Basti district of Uttar Pradesh works at metal firm in New Delhi. Khan explained it like, “When the bags were opened, our constables found huge amount of cash in old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000.”
Rajendra was thoroughly enquired by the Police and when he failed to provide any proven answers, he was detained by the Police. Khan said it like, ” He was shocked to find the cops. He said that he was asked by his firm to deliver the money here to somebody. He failed to produce any important document which could prove his claims”.
Speaking on this matter, Khan said, ” All notes were of old currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000. Primary investigation revealed that these notes were of unaccounted cash”.
Under section 102 of the CrPc, police have clutched the whole cash and sent an intimation to IT department about this matter. According to Police, “It is case of unaccounted cash. The IT department has been informed about the case and their sleuths will now locate the source of the money and carry out the further investigation into the case”.
