Latest reports suggest that Jaipur is soon going to have a mini plant of camel milk which will be established on the lines of Saras Dairy. The revelation was made by Rajasthan State Cattle Raiser Welfare Board Chairman Gordhan Rainka. The chairman suggested that the project will be carried on with the efforts of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. In the venture, the state government and Saras dairy will be joining hands set up the plant.
Mr. Rainka stated that the project will be completed by the end of this financial year and the cost incurred will be around INR 7 Crores. Notably, if camel milk is mixed with cow or buffalo milk, it loses its quality. So, setting up the plant will help in maintaining the quality of camel milk.
Although a majority of camel population is present in the western part of the state. Jaipur has been selected for setting up the plant because camel milk has high demand in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and other places. Jaipur has flight services that can be convenient in sending the milk to desired places. After Jaipur, a milk plant will also be set up in Bikaner.
Camel declared as the Rajasthan State Animal
Camel milk is referred as white gold and the Food Safety Standards Authority of India has permitted its buying and selling across the country. Researchers have proved that this milk is helpful in preventing diabetes, autism, and various other diseases.
For the first time, the camel has been declared as the state animal and in order to counter the issue of the decline in the number of camels, the government has started awarding INR 10,000 for every camel calf. Moreover, the government has also lifted the ban on trading of camels so that they can be easily purchased and sold within the country.
