Jaipur Metro Station will now be equipped with underground parking. The JRMC ( Jaipur Rail Metro Corporation) has proposed to construct first underground parking and mini-market in the Walled City under the Metro phase I (B) project.

Moreover, a mini-market will also be developed over the reversal line. The reversal line will be constructed using cut-and-cover method. The JMRC has proposed to dig 300 meter long and 20 meter wide trench between Badi Chaupar and Ramganj area.

“The state government has given in principal for construction of market and retail shops. We are working to estimate the cost of the project,” JMRC project director Ashwani Saxena, informed a media agency.

A tentative area of 6,000 square meter area will be covered with parking and retail shops. On the first level, shops will be constructed, while parking will be developed on the second level.

The JRMC has also proposed to develop a mini-market area for retail shops above the parking area.

“As the name suggests, cut-and-cover construction involves excavation equipment to dig a large trench or rectangular hole in the ground which is then covered by a concrete deck. We proposed to construct a two-level structure, which could be used for constructing parking and shops instead of filling the trench with mud again. This will be developed at very less expenditure,” said another JMRC official who is closely involved with the project

“As per the standard rule in one acre (4046.86 sq meters) parking for 100-115 cars can be developed,” added official.

Another official said,”The JSML will also contribute in this project. However, any concrete decision about the construction of the project will be taken at the higher level. It is roughly estimated that the construction cost of the project will be Rs 15 crore.”

This spectacular project is likely to witness an effective collaboration between Jaipur Smart Mission Limited (JSML) and JMRC. The project will be terminated in 2018 tentatively.
