Cricket in Rajasthan has been through a lot of ups and down lately. The state is currently conducting a interstate tournament- Colvin Shield , which will set a base for the selection of players for the final Ranji Trophy list. Jaipur the capital city is all set to host the Colvin Shield final match under the lights at the Swai Man Singh Stadium from July 12 to July 14. The important thing to note here is that the final match that is scheduled for 4 days will be played between Nagore and Bikaner and for the first time ever in the Rajasthan Cricket history, the match will be played with a SR Supreme Pink Ball.

RCA secretary Sumendra Tiwary told, “It struck us that it would be interesting to try out the pink ball in the final. With talks of a pink-ball Test in India, we want to have tried it out as well. I am confident of a good response from the crowds. This is an inter-district tournament and this forms the basis for the selection of Ranji Trophy teams.”
He added, “The problem with SG Test and Kookaburra balls is that white balls are dyed in pink, so after about 30 overs the white spots start showing. In this game, players are playing in whites and white sight screens and under lights, so the batsmen won’t be able to sight it. So we are using SR Supreme balls with a black seam. SR Supreme is giving us pink balls, which, even after 30-odd overs, remains pink.”
